Comments on the course

The course material (readings and videos) are the most interesting I have ever been assigned at ubc. Assignments were not returned super quick.

Advice

Take the course if you like a new perspective on social media, old media, new media.

Comments on the course

The content is extremely fun and interesting. So much effort is put in the course content. Readings may be difficult, if you don't have a background in anthropology. But lectures help clarify readings and concepts. Each class builds on the previous classes, progressing and revisiting topics. Amir is genuinely kind and wants to help students. He's definitely a special instructor.

Advice

Take group projects and active learning activities seriously. If your team members are not responsive let Amir or Chris know.

Comments on the course

Amir shows a great deal of passion for content and student learning. The course content was put together in a way that almost everything is connected, or you can see the links between readings and media. He's very knowledgeable in the area and approachable if you need assistance.

Advice

The final was very difficult in comparison to the midterm, so in preparation of the final and the group project think about how the themes of the readings are all linked. Applying and demonstrating that you understand the concepts will be better than reiterating what authors have said in the readings.
