This course left me on the brink of crying, but not in a standard chemistry class way, in a standard chemistry class except 2x more helpless because your professor makes you feel dumb way.

It's definitely a rigorous course, so I would recommend taking Intro to Chem if you haven't taken chem since sophomore year of HS like me, because I would've died without that foundational knowledge. Do tons of practice problems!

Choose Sumner, she gives a lot of homework but it basically forces you to study so when the exam comes around you're already pretty prepared.

Critical tracking for many majors, but was harder than I expected. Definitely lives up to the "weed-out" class stereotype and had many friends withdraw from Sumner's class.

Cons: lots and lots of homework and assignments each week so be prepared to spend around 10 hours each week for just chem lecture and assignments. Pros: Sumner is actually not a bad teacher and will help you to understand the material through all the assignments and in office hours.

If your other classes aren't as heavy workload or content wise, Sumner is manageable. Otherwise, go with Harris and get Study Edge.

This class was genuinely one of the most difficult classes to take online. If you are in general chemistry 1 your first semester of college, you better get ready to work. Expect difficult weekly assignments and hard exams that you have to study a ton for.

Professor Harris is really chill and honestly very reasonable. He is also very approachable and friendly. I just did not find his teaching methods helpful, but this might have been influenced by me taking it online.

I wish I knew how much you had to practice and stay on top of the material. That would have been helpful to know before.

The abundance of assignments made sure that you are never without chem work. Honestly so much work and it didn't help. I cried when I found out that I passed.

Hell. They want you to devote your life to this class. Get Study Edge, don't wait like me until after you bomb the first exam because it was intentionally trickly.

Nothing. They require this class for a lot of majors, often for no reason. I know how to do useless math stuff, that's pretty much it. This class is only really useful for people looking to work in a lab.

Pros: Harris is the best chemistry prof for understanding He makes you understand in simple terms and works thru math with you Cons: All the other profs drop your lowest exam score, he drops it but averages it with the other exams to replace the drop He gives the most homework (it is A LOT- expect to do about 1-2 hours of assignments daily)

Don't take this class with any other classes that may need your time or also need studying. If you want an A, you have to do chemistry every waking moment. Get Study Edge early

Lopez is a horrible professor, lectures make no sense. StudyEdge is very helpful here once you get passed exam 1 if you have Lopez.
